Getting to Know You: Geri
If there’s anyone who truly embodies the spirit of Christopher House, it’s Geri! With an incredible 40 years of servi
ce, Geri has worn many hats throughout her career—and has a story or two to tell from each one.
Today, Geri serves in Payroll and Human Resources, where she says her favorite part of the job is interacting with our staff. Building relationships and supporting the team is what keeps her motivated every day.
Geri’s journey at Christopher House began as a Nursing Assistant (back before certification was required!). From there, she became an Activity Assistant, a role she remembers as “great fun!” She later moved into leadership as Laundry Supervisor, then Housekeeping & Laundry Supervisor. Along the way, she even spent a brief stint as the facility’s hairdresser—yes, she’s licensed! Her career path is a perfect example of the room for growth and opportunity at Christopher House.
When asked for one word her coworkers would use to describe her, Geri didn’t hesitate: Dedicated.
A small thing that always brightens her day? A payday with no errors! (We think everyone can appreciate that one.)
Outside of work, Geri enjoys watching her favorite comfort movie, Pride & Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. She’s also had a once-in-a-lifetime experience that many people can only dream about—seeing Elvis Presley in concert not once, but twice! In fact, Elvis shook her hand and even tried to give her one of his scarves three times. Unfortunately, some very enthusiastic fans had other plans and snatched them away before she could keep one!
One thing Geri can’t live without at work is simple but powerful: TEAMWORK!
Need a laugh? Geri loves a good dad joke. Here’s one she’d probably appreciate:
Why don’t eggs tell jokes?
Because they’d crack each other up!
If her life had a theme song, it would be “Overcomer” by Mandisa—a fitting choice for someone whose perseverance and dedication have helped shape Christopher House for four decades.
And for a fun fact? Geri once went skydiving and describes it as “such a blast!”
Thank you, Geri, for your incredible commitment, positivity, and the countless ways you’ve contributed to Christopher House over the years. We’re lucky to have you on the team!
