A Little Music, a Little Magic, and Plenty of Fall Fun at Christopher House
October may be halfway through, but thereโs still plenty of fun ahead at Christopher House! Across Belmont, Putnam, Hillside, and Brookside, the rest of the month brings live music, favorite movies, creative afternoons, and a few delightfully spooky celebrations.
Whether your idea of a good afternoon involves singing along, sharing a slice of pizza, or keeping a close eye on your Bingo card, thereโs something to look forward to.
Music That Brings Us Together
Thereโs nothing quite like a familiar song to get toes tapping and start conversations. On October 20, Robbie Wilson will share his cello playing from 11 a.m. to noon. Later in the month, Lee Bartlett and the Greendale Retirement Chorus will perform on October 28 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Throughout the remaining weeks, musical meetups feature favorites from Frank Sinatra, Dolly Parton, Neil Diamond, the Bee Gees, and more. Brookside residents can also look forward to music with instruments on October 18, singalongs, and plenty of opportunities for Moving and Grooving.
Knowing every word is optional. Enjoying yourself is the whole point.
Good Companyโand Something Delicious
Some of the best conversations happen over a treat. Belmont, Putnam, and Hillside have pizza socials scheduled for October 23 and 30, while Brooksideโs Wednesday ice cream socials on October 21 and 28 offer a sweet reason to gather.
An October 20 birthday celebration adds another happy occasion to the calendar. And visits with Zeke in Belmont and Putnam bring a different kind of treat: a little time with a four-legged friend.
Games, Creativity, and Cozy Movie Afternoons
A little friendly competition is always in season. The coming weeks include a horse racing game, Hollywood Squares, Wheel of Fortune, Pokeno, card games, and, of course, Bingo.
In Brookside, residents can explore their creative side through Artist Corner, adult art, and flower arranging on October 27. An October 22 conversation about apple picking offers a chance to revisit favorite fall memories, while an October 20 travelogue to Transylvania brings a seasonal adventure indoors.
Movie lovers have plenty to enjoy, too. Belmont, Putnam, and Hillsideโs Sunday matinees include Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory on October 18 and Jumanji on October 25. On October 27, a spa afternoon paired with Disneyโs Bedtime Stories offers a relaxing change of pace.
A Spooktacular Finish
Weโre wrapping up October with some Halloween spirit!
On October 29, the all-unit Halloween parade runs from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., beginning in the lobby and ending in the lounge. Brooksideโs calendar also features afternoon entertainment and a Halloween party that day, followed by Halloween costume reminiscing on October 30.
And on Halloween afternoon, Brookside will settle in for a 2 p.m. showing of Hocus Pocus. A little movie magic feels like just the right way to celebrate.
At Christopher House, these everyday gatherings give residents opportunities to enjoy familiar favorites, try something different, and spend time together. Weโre looking forward to sharing the laughter, music, and little moments that make the season special.
